Gros Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2007 10:51:11 -0700 Subject: beer in italy Planning a trip to Italy next spring. Likely going from Venice to Verona to Bologna to Tuscany to Rome. Google isn't giving me much in terms of beers, brewpubs or other information. I found a recommended beer store in Milan, but that is about it. Any specific things to look out for in northern Italy? Guess we'll be mostly sticking to wine, but what about a beer fix other than Irish pubs? thanks. You can just about give up on beer in those areas. Tuscany is all about red wine and Cinque Terra white wine. I did manage to find some interesting bocks/double bocks (doppio malto)in a grocery store in Montalcino. There was another Moretti product I found in Monterosso al Mare that looked interesting but didn't get a chance to try it. Otherwise it was all Peroni and Moretti pilsner. Some friends of mine who travel Europe almost every year searching for new beers told me to expect that. If you Google using the Italian terms like birra and doppio malto you'll find a lot more, just not in those areas. Enjoy. -- Mike Schwartz Beer Barons of Milwaukee beerbarons.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Terry Felton Date: Wed, 18 Jul 2007 09:46:12 -0400 Subject: re: Beer in Italy Bryan, Last Year I tasted a Flemish Red style from Panil which was very impressive.
