I've judged at several comps where there was actual glassware being used. The problem for a comp organiser is that you pretty much have to devote one person full time to washing and (as Jeff McNally pointed out) properly drying the glasses. And that person has to work hard. For a big comp, you'll need multiple people just for that duty. Only 5 or 6 judging tables can crank out 90 to 100 dirty glasses an hour, so that gives under 40 seconds apiece for washing AND drying AND stacking. Sounds like no problem, but if the glass washer takes a pee break, it really stacks up fast. Don't forget time spent delivering the glasses to the tables if your washing area is far from the judging tables. And make sure to have PLENTY of bar towels to dry those glasses because if you only have a few, they'll be sopping wet before the first hour is up. Another note: If some of your judges live on well water, and you rinse glasses with chlorinated tap water and don't dry them, the chlorine in rinsed but not dried glasses can be apparent to these judges.
