The Fellowship of Oklahoma Ale Makers (FOAM) was proud to be the host club for the American Homebrewers Association's Club-Only Competition sponsored by Coopers Brew Products. The April COC focused on, "A Taste of Yankee Ingenuity" with BJCP Category 10 - American Ale. The American Ale COC was the 5th of 6 competitions, which will help determine the 2005-2006 AHA Homebrew Club of the Year. AHA Registered Homebrew Club entries were due on Saturday, April 1st (April Fool's Day) and the judging was held on the succeeding Saturday, April 8th at High Gravity Homebrewing & Winemaking Supplies where we judged some of the nation's best homebrewed American Ales! AHA COC - American Ale Results By the numbers? 53 entries from 24 states: 33 American Pale Ales 11 American Amber Ales 9 American Brown Ales Average score was 29.6 pts. High score was 41 pts. Low score was 20 pts. And the winners are? 1. Paul Pilcher of Kansas City, MO representing the Kansas City Bier Meisters (KCBM) with his American Pale Ale (APA) 2. Kevin Deaton of Charlotte, NC representing the Carolina Brewmasters with his American Amber Ale 3. Tony Simmons & Julie Jessen of Pagosa Springs, CO representing the Homebrewers of Pagosa Springs (HOPS) with their American Pale Ale (APA) The Fellowship of Oklahoma Ale Makers (FOAM) would like to give a big Okie? thanks to Gary Glass, Janis Gross and the rest of the AHA Staff, Susan Smith from White Labs, Dave, Desiree & Pippin from High Gravity Homebrewing & Winemaking Supplies and to all of the Judges, Stewards & Members-at-Large who helped us out.
