Well, Comcast has decided to rename our NNTP server once again. The new server is: c-65-96-168-73.hsd1.ma.comcast.net (hsd1 = hsd) Kinda rolls off the tongue doesn't it? -- Chuck Cox - SynchroSystems chuck`at`synchro.com, cccox@fas.harvard.edu, www.synchro.com ********************************************************************** * JudgeNet - the beer judge digest * * Send plain text only, no HTML, MIME, encoded text or attachments * * Manage your subscription online: http://synchro.com/judge * * Send subscription requests & changes to judge-request`at`synchro.com * ********************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Glenn Exline Date: Wed, 15 Jun 2005 16:25:02 -0400 Subject: Commander SAAZ Interplanetary Homebrew Blastoff 2005 Only four weeks until the Commander SAAZ Interplanetary Homebrew Blastoff 2005 Entry deadline!! The Commander SAAZ Interplanetary Homebrew Blastoff is an A.H.A. Sanctioned homebrewed beer and mead competition sponsored by the Spacecoast Associates for the Advancement of Zymurgy (SAAZ). Beers will be judged in accordance with 2004 BJCP style guidelines. There are two Best Of Show (BOS) awards, one for beers and one for meads and ciders. We have the coolest BOS trophy in the know universe. You can check it out on Commander SAAZ page of our website (http://www.saaz.org). Medals and prizes are awarded for individual category winners. The 2005 Rules and Minutiae are also available on our website (http://www.saaz.org). We will have electronic entries again this year as well as the option to pay via Paypal. In addition to our usual competition we've added a special category this year. The Commander SAAZ Rocket Fuel Award! The rules for the Rocket Fuel category are pretty simple. The beer must be based on a BJCP beer/mead/cider category, however, the sky's no limit as far as alcohol content. A minimum of 10% ABV is required to get the Commander's engines running though. This will be a 2 bottle entry with a fee of $5.00 per entry. So dust off that Imperial Brown Ale, or that Strong Dark Belgian Sextuple you have stashed away and see if it can help the Commander get farther, faster! The competition will be held on Saturday 23 July. Entry cutoff is Wednesday 13 July. Our President Don Ferris will be acting as head judge again this year. If anyone is interested in judging either the pre-judging (weekend of 16-17 July) or at the actual final day of competition please contact Don Ferris - Prez`at`Saaz.org. If you have any other questions please contact the competition organizer at CS2005`at`Saaz.org. In its seventh year, the Brewers Cup features separate homebrew and commercial divisions. We are in particular need of BJCP judges for the commercial division. Judges will be paid a stipend of $25.00 for judging two sessions and as a BJCP sanctioned competition, points will be reported. There are a few "Beds for Judges" that will be available on a first come, first served basis either the night before or the night of the judging. The competition wraps up around 4:00 p.m. with the Awards Reception, a bountiful appetizer buffet and samples of the 2004 Best of Show winners. We know that it can be difficult to leave the family on a weekend to judge beer. Bring your spouse and kids along. After the judging on Saturday there will be plenty of time to spend with the family. Indianapolis has lots of family-friendly things to do and places to go. We have a world famous Children's Museum, the beautiful Indianapolis Zoo, Conner Prairie, the Indianapolis 500 Museum and Caribbean Cove-a huge new indoor water park.
