I am glad to hear that you are well aware of the challenges facing us at the local level of homebrew clubs. First, let me apologize for assuming that you were of the female gender. I work with two Kristins, so am predisposed to make an assumption of gender based on that apparently inaccurate data! Second, you very clearly answered my questions about the level of expertise that many of us are wanting to aspire in calibrating our judging skills. I have talked with Chuck Skypeck, our regional BJCP rep for several years, about how the BJCP seems to have stagnated and sat back on its haunches in moving forward with some regional classes and/or training/calibration sessions to help those of us who haven't had access to resources and/or expertise to train judges in our region. I am glad to see the BJCP moving in that direction, and from your response to my query, you seem to be very keyed into the crux of the matter. Over the coming months, I hope to continue to be involved with our club as well as with the BJCP to bring the training aspect of the organization into fruition. Let me know if there is any way that I or other members of our club or other regional clubs in the Southeast can help in this process.
