The rank of Master Judge is attained by any of the following three paths: The candidate has an exam score of 90 or more and has accumulated 40 or more experience points Or, The candidate has an exam score of 80 or more, has graded at least fifty exams, has at least 40 experience points and has an additional two experience points for every exam score point less than 90. For example, if he has a score of 88 and fifty exams graded, he will need 40 points plus an additional four points (44 total) to qualify. Or, If the candidate has a score of 80 or more and at least 40 experience points but has not graded fifty exams, he will need an additional three experience points for each exam point less than ninety. For example, if he has an exam score of 88 but has not graded fifty exams he will need a total of 46 experience points to qualify. If the candidate is eligible for Master Judge by more than one of the above options he may choose which to use. If the candidate goes on to the rank of Grand Master judge he may not use any exam gradings or extra experience points that were already used to qualify for Master Judge. For example, if he has an exam score of 88, has graded fifty exams and has used four additional experience points to make Master Judge, then he will need to earn 104 experience points and to grade 250 exams to make Grand Master (assuming he is getting his Grand Master Service Requirement by grading exams). ----------------------------------------------------------------- This means that everyone who qualifies for advancement under these rules is promoted. It will take a while for the administrative process to catch up with these new rules but if you think you have qualified please contact your Regional Representative who will check it out for you. Complete details will be posted on the website. I live in the North Region, but never got any information about the election. I didn't find any details on how the elections are run in the Member's Guide. Was I supposed to have an opportunity to vote, an opportunity to volunteer to run, or an opportunity to nominate someone? I know that the Officer's Page has stated for a while that Rex Halfpenny was up for re-election in 2004, then all of a sudden we find out Allan Boyce won, because he ran unopposed (and Rex was retiring). I have nothing against Allan, he sounds like he will do a great job in his new position; but I would have liked to know what was going on, before it was all over.
