Subject: Digest for the period 2/20/2004 - 2/21/2004 Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2004 01:03:21 -0500 Table of contents ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Posting Points (David Craft) 2. Ceske tmave pivo (Richard Stueven) 3. 2004 Cascadia Cup HBC (Alan Hord) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: David Craft Date: Wed, 18 Feb 2004 07:08:09 -0500 Subject: Posting Points The conversation concerning the posting of points has died down. I stayed out of that thread but feel I need to say something. First, I appreciate all that volunteers do for this organization. My comments are meant to be constructive only. I was notified I passed my test in the summer of 2002. I started earning points in the fall of 2002. I have, according to my records, earned 3.5 points. I checked my record about 6 months ago when at least a few of the points should have showed up. Nothing. I let it go. I checked this morning, nothing. I have spoken to several of the contest organizers who assured me that the paperwork was sent in a long time ago. I even sent an email to the BJCP noting the contests and points I should have, no response. Something is broken if points are taking this long to be posted and based on past posts here I am not the only one. Solution, charge dues. You want to be a Judge, it costs $25 bucks a year. Don't want to charge dues, charge contests a few bucks for each BJCP Judge that participates in a contest. You are only covering the costs of administering this program. I am amazed that we have gotten along so well for so long with just volunteers. We should have a 5 fulltime staff and a building by now, :>). Seriously, I hope the Board will take this time to come up with a solution that keeps this program on the forefront of judging. Not to act will cause great harm to the organization and hobby in the long run. My two cents, David Craft Greensboro, NC Hopefully certified one day soon............ ********************************************************************** * JudgeNet - the beer judge digest * * Send plain text only, no HTML, MIME, encoded text or attachments * * Send subscription requests & changes to judge-request`at`synchro.com * ********************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Richard Stueven Date: Wed, 18 Feb 2004 15:57:01 -0600 Subject: Ceske tmave pivo Anybody here have experience with Czech "tmave" beers?
