I paid $18 at a used book store. The cover price at that time must have been $40. I read the first edition from the library, a year or so before the second came out. I have only skimmed the second. There was so much time between reading the two (and now) I can not really make a comparison. Alibris lists the first edition at 258 pages my second edition is 346. They also have it in the original French. You might check your library, my local library got it through an inter-library loan.
