(please pardon my habit of seeing the ultimate worst side of any >issue.) Huh? I didn't write anything about unfairly low scores or ugly comments. The idea that I was so poorly trying to express was this - if a first place ribbon is awarded to a beer that scores, say, 25 points, I don't see that the judge's or the BJCP's credibility is compromised. I'll assume that the beer was fairly scored and that it was the best beer in the medal flight. The winner gets his award and can celebrate his victory. Later, he gets the score sheet (with perceptive and helpful comments from one of us, I hope) and can consider ways to improve his brewing. Its a win-win outcome and our credibility is intact.
