Wyeast 1728 (reportedly McEwan's) lends a mild smokiness when fermented
cool.  Presumably the other Scottish yeasts (WLP028 etc.) out there are
either the same strain or similar.  Pick up a McEwan's Export and try it.
There is no smoked malt in those beers.
