This homebrew competition will be held at the BB&Y Restaurant in Raleigh, NC. Categories and subcategories will use the 1999 AHA style guidelines (http://www.aob.org). Meads and ciders may be entered but are ineligible for BOS (Best of Show). We anticipate awarding ribbons in about 15 flights to accomodate 6-12 entries per flight. Over the past 5 years we have averaged about 140 entries in this competiton. Call for Judges and Stewards: Lunch will be provided for judges, stewards, and anyone else helping to run the competition. BJCP points will be awarded to all eligible participants. Entries: Two bottles with bottle IDs attached by rubber band, accompanied by an entry form and entry fee (5$ for first entry, $4 each for the rest). AHA entry forms are acceptable. The usual bottle restrictions apply (approximately 12 oz., brown glass, no markings or raised lettering, blacked out caps). Brewers are also encouraged to enter our third annual "Just Plain Good Beer" category. There are no style restrictions, no entry fee, and no judging forms, but ribbons will be awarded. Three bottles are required per entry. The winners will be chosen by popular vote during the BOS judging round. We especially encourage entries that don't exactly fit existing style criteria: lawn-mower beers, imperial porters, schwarzweizens, triple bocks, rauch-wit biers, etc. Deadline for local drop-off and mail-in entries is Saturday 10/23/99. Local entrants are encouraged to bring entries to the monthly TRUB meeting Wednesday October 13 at Satisfaction's in Durham.
