Why haven't we seen notice of the annual > meeting in the BJCP Reporter? My understanding is that Bill G. has already had his concerns answered personally, to this is for anyone listening in. As we all know, the BJCP has been busy simply trying to stay in existence, and every bit of important information has been communicated to the membership either in the form of the annual mailing with the point recap or in the newsletter. That's also the answer to most of the rest of the questions raised. I think everyone appreciates Bill's concern. Every organization needs its gadfly to encourage everyone to do their best. During the next few months, I would expect that there will be enough information communicated to the membership that everyone will feel more than satisfied. It's pointless to try to do that here, due to the small percentage of members who subscribe to JudgeNet. I'd like to get the newsletter out more often, too. Sure would be nice if someone would send me something to put in it! There is always BJCP news, competition announcements and exam schedules. There are several committees that could update us on their progress and even SHOULD update us on their progress. You could even grab submissions from this forum to be republished for the rest of the judges that don't read Judge Digest, call it Best of the Digest. Simply, leave the articles to the magazines and keep the newsletter a "news" letter as it should be. One last thing is that if people start getting the newletter on a regular basis then they are more likely to think of it when they have news to share. This month features Goudenband (yum!) and a new label. At least it's new to me. The beer is Holsten Black Knight. The label describes it as a "unique, black bottom-fermented beer, the counterpart to the top-fermented Stouts and Porter of England." In other words, as is proclaimed on the tasting notes page, it is a Schwarzbier, brewed in Hamburg. I'm letting it settle in my basement before indulging. But, I'm wondering if anybody else has heard of or tasted this particular beer, as I was only aware of 1 Schwarzbier imported to the US. Lyle C. Brown P.S> It is shipped from Wisconsin, so no telling when it might be available here. ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
