(Alan Folsom) CARBOY Shamrock Open (lmatt) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 12 Feb 1996 23:10:05 -0600 From: ddavison at execpc.com (Dennis Davison) Subject: Mr Giffin Dear sir, If sir, you would read the Interim Committee Rules / By-laws last adopted on March 30th, 1995 you will quickly find that the current board is living up to the existing rules / by-laws. We a) have a temporary bank account, b) a temporary mailing address, c) vancancies have been appointed in the appropriate manner, and d) the primary task of creating a new set of by-laws is being worked on (actually approved by the board as of Sunday, and will be mailed in March). Nowhere were we mandated to Incorporate, obtain non-profit status, or a checking account under the name of the BJCP by this point in time. Read them Mr Bill. If we didn't follow the existing set of by-laws we would be crucified, just as you are trying to crucify us for following a legal working document. Dennis Davison ddavison at execpc.com BJCC Midwest Region Chairperson of the BJCP ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 1996 05:44:27 -0800 From: folsom at ix.netcom.com (Alan Folsom) Subject: Diatribes et. al. >>Normally still another diatribe from Mr. Giffen would >>give me little more than amusement. But speaking as one >>of the seven Board members of the BJCP >My name is Mr. Giffin, please be kind enough to spell it correctly. >Paddy >may take offence to you use of his name. I find it amazing that someone can complain about spelling in a post that itself contains at least seven spelling and grammatical errors, not including arguable points like run-on sentences and poor grammar or usage. By the way, I did look up diatribe in the American Heritage Dictionary, and it is defined as "A bitter and abusive criticism or denunciation." While it may be debatable, I believe Mr. Giffin's posts fit that definition. I have never met (not "meet") Mr. Giffin, and believe I have only briefly met one or two members of the board. My opinions regarding the BJCP are open to change through rational discussion in this forum and elsewhere. I must say, though, that Mr. Giffin's barely literate rantings do little to convince me of his points. He may have been a C.P.A. for twenty years, but I wouldn't let him near my corporate records.
