I think there has been a lot accomplished. Just trying to *figure out* how to organize a distributed organization in a democratic mannor, getting the election done, setting up regional databases, trying to coordinate stuff with AHA while still maintaining all the exam program and point distributions for competitions, and making progress on revamping the program isnt too shoddy for people who are doing all this on a volenteer basis. I'm sure they all have other lives that are crimped. I'm not saying there isnt a lot of work to be done, but whenever I've worked on building organizations it always takes seems to take a long time, a lot of gestation and thinking is required and it sometimes looks like nothing is happening. Do something to help when you can - I do. > we have more administrators and board members > then it takes to run a fairly large town maybe even a small city, When switching from a monarchy to a democracy its a little more complex than when the system is pretty much fully functional. What kind of resources does it take to *start* a large town running?? > yet nothing truly has been accomplished, at least nothing that we can > reach out and touch. Dennis, would you be willing to go on tour?? ;) - ---------------------- Jim asks about judge heads:) > It seems really hard to get a good look at head and head > retention with the tiny pours and the lag times between pour and judging > sometimes. It really depends on the beer, its not uncommon for Brussels lace to be quite thick on the sides of the judging cup, and for the head to sit there in a pretty much empty cup for quite a while if the beer has sufficent protein. It can get like foam concrete if it sits long enough. I recently made a beer with a 1.037 OG and it has a big thick head that wont quit - blame it on the crystal malts (which can be pretty light nowadays), even when poured into small glasses. By tiny I hope you mean around 2 oz. good luck, -john - -- John Isenhour "unix is not your mother" Brewmaster/National Judge Information/Library Science isenhour at uiuc.edu ------------------------------ End of JudgeNet Digest ************************
