I'm available to judge contests anywhere within a 1 hour air travel radius of Phoenix--LA, Flagstaff, Tucson, Las Vegas, San Diego, Santa Fe, El Paso, etc. Looks like I'm booked for one local contest in April already. Could organizers who are interested and who have contests coming up in the next 3-6 months please drop me a note at joseph at joebloe.maple-shade.nj.us. I also travel to the SF Bay area, Portland, and the Philadelphia area with some regularity. I suggest a system that is already somewhat in place-word of mouth. I suspect that contest organizers know other contest organizers and communicate with one another, at least in a somewhat regional context. If you don't show ( unless there is a good reason) for a contest, you don't get any more invitations to judge. Simple. I subscribed to judgenet about two months or so ago and at first really enjoyed all of the discussion that took place within this forum. I would like to become a judge, and really learn from all of the people out there that love brewing as much as I do...but now I'm a little confused. What is the best way of going about doing this now? Is the BJCP really circling the drain? Is there another discussion group to join (from AHA, or anywhere) that is like the old judgenet? In short all I would like to do is become part of a group that loves beer and wants to expand their knowledge about beer. Of course I would love to contribute to this group also. If anyone out reading this can point me in the right direction here I would welcome their input as a post in this forum or private email. Cheers!
