I will have the judge/ steward registration sheet, the barbeque reservation sheet, and site directions/hotel info sheet available for e-mailing soon. These letters went out yesterday, so wait a little while for your packet. Then deluge me with requests. Seems that I'm the internet connection for this operation. Judges from all areas welcome. Lowell Hart San Joaquin WortHogs Raktenflugplatz, Fresno lhart at cati.CSUFresno.edu 1995 National Homebrew Competition Western Regional Judging Dear Fellow Homebrewers, As a representative of the San Joaquin WortHogs homebrew club and the California State University Fresno Enology Society, it is my privilege to invite you to participate in this year's National Homebrew Competition Western Regional Judging, to be held Apr il 28, 29 & 30, 1995 in Fresno, California. We are pleased to announce that this year's event will be held in the Sensory Evaluation Room of the Enology Department winery, on the campus of California State University, Fresno. Over 600 entries from Califor nia and Nevada are expected, in all homebrew categories except mead and sake. This event represents an opportunity to meet and socialize with homebrewers from all over the western United States. Judges and stewards from areas other than the California and Nevada entry area are encouraged to attend. Our judging location on the CSU Fresno campus allows us to present a tri-tip barbecue and homebrew tasting just down the road from the judging site at O'Neill Park. This event will be held on the evening of Saturday, April 29, 1995, and will be catered by the CSU Fresno Enology Society. It will cost $10.00 per person and will include dinner, music, and samples of WortHog homebrew, including those from our '95 Commemorative brewing program. A reservation form is enclosed with this announcement. Participant s are encouraged to bring their own brew creations to add to the supply for tasting. Gas bottles and ice will be available for those with kegged beer. A morning snack and hearty lunch will be provided for all participants. Accommodations for the event will need to be worked out by the participants. There will be ample RV parking space available at the judging site (sorry, no service hookups). A list of motels in the area of the event will be provided. Please fill out and return the enclosed Judge/Steward Registration Form by 11 April 1995 to the address listed below. Besides the usual personal information , there are spaces for you to indicate which beers you would prefer to judge. While we will make e very effort to place you in these preferred categories, please be prepared to judge any category that you have not entered. We will be filling the panel spots as the replies come in, so a quick response will help ensure your choice of styles. There is als o a space for beer style categories that you have entered or do not wish to judge. This will help us coordinate panel assignments and avoid conflicts on the day of the event. Your timely return of the registration form will help us with these arrangements. The Western Regional Judging event has gained an excellent reputation for being a venue that provides high quality judging in an environment of efficient technical support. The events in San Francisco and now in Fresno have set a standard for the running of a regional contest. Come join us and meet other brewers and judges from around the west, and enjoy the learning experience of evaluating beers from the most prolific homebrewing region of the country. Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you the last weekend in April. Until then, Keep brewing, Bill McCrory Site Judge Director c/o Bencomo's Homebrew Supply 1544 N.
