My term begins on Feb 1, 1995 and I am interested in comments from BJCP judges on the BJCP. I am newly signed onto the judge NET and can also be reached at GSMITHBEER at eWorld.COM Thanks Gregg ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jan 1995 20:48:02 +0000 From: "Lee Bussy" Subject: Specialty beers I agree with the "No commercial equivalent" category idea. At least in theory. I'll tell you how it works in practice after our competition in March. Basically, if it fits no defined category, including Specialty, the brewer includes a statement of intent and why it is not anything else and the info is passed on to the judges. We'll see. - -- -Lee Bussy | The 4 Basic Foodgroups.... | leeb at southwind.net | Salt, Fat, Beer & Women! | Wichita, Kansas | http://www.southwind.net/~leeb | ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jan 1995 20:52:00 +0000 From: "Lee Bussy" Subject: Pulled a boner Okay, who was I corresponding with from OKC about the competition and BJCP? I was replying to your message and I think I deleted the message before sending it. Please reply and let me know if it made it or not. Now back to our show.......... - -- -Lee Bussy | The 4 Basic Foodgroups.... | leeb at southwind.net | Salt, Fat, Beer & Women! | Wichita, Kansas | http://www.southwind.net/~leeb | ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jan 95 02:03:17 MST From: joseph at joebloe.maple-shade.nj.us (Joseph "Moof-in'" Hall) Subject: Need to Judge, Will Travel Well, about 2 years ago I passed the BJCP Exam. Also about 2 years ago I got assigned to this totally time consuming job in the Phoenix area. As a result I have yet to accumulate even one judging point. I'd hate to lose my certification, so I'll make the following offer. I'll fly myself out to judge a contest anywhere within a 1 hour plane ride (on Southwest) of Phoenix. This includes LA, San Diego, Albuquerque, El Paso, Vegas, and of course Tucson. Just find me one or two to judge, quick. My schedule is somewhat free than it has been for the next few months. I'm an experienced all-grain brewer (15-30 batches per year before The New Job). Judgewise I should be handy at ales and, if forewarned, various Belgian styles. =============== O Fortuna, velut Luna, statu variabilis =============== uunet!joebloe!joseph (602) 732-2549 day joseph%joebloe at uunet.uu.net 1400 N Alma School #163 Chandler, AZ 85224 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Be hip!
