Subject: Scottish ale vs Brown ale

Mike Lelivelt asks how to differentiate between brown ale and scottish export.

I'm not the expert here, but our local Scottish ale maven (Bill 
Ridgely) has carefully instructed us that roast barley flavors are an 
inseperable part of Scottish ales.  That's pretty rare in regular brown 
ales, I believe.  Comments?
