Of course, I meant to say that "...if the concentration does *not* produce an effective original gravity..." Sorry about that. --Darryl Richman ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 May 94 07:55:47 -0600 From: glo at beta.lanl.gov (Gordon L. Specifically, I send my entries to the Oldenburg site. Has anyone else received their score sheets from there? Thanks for any information that you have. Gordon L. Olson (glo at lanl.gov) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 May 1994 11:18:11 -0400 (EDT) From: Kieran O'Connor Subject: Exams and costs Our club has recently changed its policy on helping to encourage judges in our club to become certified. It's always been my feeling that Judges who perform a service to a club by judging should not have to pay 50$ for the exam for the privelege. Our club decided to pay for half of the exam therefore. But recently we decided to even change that--we pay for half--if you pass--and then pay for the rest if you judge two contests for our club. That way we encourage folks to become certified and we have a group of judges who will be able to give us help when we need it. If they judge for two contests (since ours are one year apart) then it seems reasonable to assume that they will be in the area and that our money will be well spent. On the subject of the cost of the BJCP in general--I'm not sure. I can understand that it's expensive to deal with all the copies, etc. It's just a lot of dough for a person who is doing a service to a club to shell out. That's why I think our club's new policy might be a good compromise. Kieran O'Connor E-Mail Address: koconnor at mailbox.syr.edu Syracuse, N.Y.
